Course Description:

This course is geared to perfecting the linguistic skills of heritage speakers of Spanish that have successfully completed Heritage Spanish 1.  Students will be exposed to challenging literary readings representing a variety of Spanish-speaking countries and cultures.  They will be exposed to a variety of media, such as websites, films, blogs, etc. in order to develop strong media literacy skills. The class will also touch on professional and educational opportunities that connect to the units of study.  The class will interact with guest speakers from a variety of countries and professions, both in person and through virtual means. Students will also improve their written skills, sharpen their oral presentational skills, hone interpretational skills, and learn to work with peers cooperatively.

The course will give students the needed preparation to enter Advanced Placement Language and Literature classes.

Due to the diversity, personal backgrounds, and levels of literacy of the students present in the Spanish Heritage classes,  modification, and differentiation of instructions will need to be implemented in order to fulfill the individual needs of all students in the program.
