Course Description:
Spanish 1 is the first year of Spanish instruction offered at Summit High School. The goal of this course is to engage students and motivate them in taking large strides in the acquisition of Spanish. Through regular use of authentic materials and cultural products, students are able to interact with the Spanish language and various cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Some of the units studied during this course are school life, family life, entertainment, and the community. Students are challenged to use the target language and engage in communicative activities at the Novice-Mid to Novice-High proficiency level.
We will be covering the following thematic units in Spanish 1:
Unit 1 - Hola, ¿Qué tal? Hablemos de los amigos.
Unit 2 - La vida escolar
Unit 3 - Pasándola en familia
Unit 4 - Te invito a mi casa
Unit 5 - ¡Vamos de vacaciones!
Unit 6 - ¡Bienvenidos a mi ciudad!

Class Participation → 10%

CLASSROOM RULES:
Upon entering this class, you will be treated like an adult. By now you have been in school long enough to know what behaviors are appropriate. Mutual respect is expected by all. Remember, we are all in this together. All school rules will apply.
